Sauternes Les Tourelles de Caillou Chateau Caillou 2022
On the limestone plateau of Barsac, Second Growth Château Caillou has belonged to the same family since 1909. Sémillon ripens here into wines of botrytis-driven opulence lifted by the appellation's characteristic freshness — Sauternes country's lighter, brighter cousin.
Les Tourelles de Caillou is the second wine of this 1855-classified Barsac estate, mostly Sémillon with a touch of Sauvignon. The 2022 should show botrytis-driven honey, apricot and citrus peel with freshness — Ideal as an aperitif, served on toasts with farmhouse goat cheese, fruity Comté, or cakes made with walnuts, hazelnuts, and almonds.
