Bergerac Rouge L'Abbaye Domaine l'Ancienne Cure 2020

Above Bergerac, Domaine l'Ancienne Cure has farmed the clay-limestone hills around Colombier for five generations, organic since 2009. Christian Roche's legacy lives on in wines that marry Sémillon's honeyed richness with the structured, food-loving character of the Southwest.

L'Abbaye blends Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec from clay-limestone plateau soils. The 2020 shows deep ruby colour, ripe dark fruit and Bergerac's typical tannic grip — a powerful, food-driven red rather than an aperitif style, cleanly organic in its expression.
