Madiran Gaia Chateau du Pouey 2022

Built on a ridge above Viella, Château du Pouey has passed through four generations, with Bastien Lannusse taking the reins in 2012 at just twenty-five. Farming three distinct terroirs across Madiran and Pacherenc, he broke from the cooperative to craft fruity, silky-tannined wines with real personality.

Gaïa is one of Château du Pouey's Madiran reds, built on Tannat with Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon from clay-gravel slopes at Viella. The 2022 should show ripe cassis and black fruit with soft, silky tannins — Bastien Lannusse's fruit-forward, less rustic take on this traditionally powerful appellation.
