Château Tour des Gendres, reinvented by Luc de Conti from 1981 on land his Italian immigrant grandfather once farmed, has become the flagship estate of Bergerac. Organic since the 1990s and now run by his children, its wines pair limestone precision with real ambition.

Les Anciens Francs is one of Château Tour des Gendres' more serious Côtes de Bergerac reds, likely built around old-vine Cabernet Franc. Now several years old, the 2017 should show mature, structured fruit softened into savoury complexity — organic Bergerac built for the long haul.
