Chinon Tradition Domaine Philippe Alliet 2023

A guardian of Chinon's wild soul, Philippe Alliet tends his old vines on the tuffeau slopes above the Vienne with quiet devotion. His wines carry the mineral tension of ancient limestone and the perfume of pure Cabernet Franc — untamed, singular, deeply Loire.

Tradition is Alliet's entry-level Cabernet Franc, grown on gravel and sand around Cravant-les-Coteaux and raised in vat rather than barrel. The 2023 shows raspberry and blackcurrant with supple tannins and a fresh, savoury finish — Chinon's lighter, easy-drinking face.
