Domaine Gramenon
Perched at an altitude of 350 meters in the foothills of the Pre-Alps, at the northern tip of the southern Côtes du Rhône, Domaine Gramenon has been an icon of natural wine since its founding in 1978 by Philippe and Michèle Aubéry-Laurent. After Philippe’s death in 1999, Michèle continued to manage the estate on her own until 2022, when her son, Maxime-François Laurent, took over. Today, its 26 hectares rest on an 86-million-year-old fossilized limestone reef—a truly unique terroir that is the source of the freshness and minerality that characterize the estate’s style.
Grenache reigns supreme, accounting for nearly 70% of the vineyards, with some old-vine plots reaching up to 120 years of age. Syrah, Viognier, Clairette, and Cinsault round out the blend. The estate has been Demeter-certified for biodynamic farming since 2010. In the cellar, hand-harvesting, grape sorting, native yeasts, and minimal sulfur use preserve the fruit’s full integrity.
