Domaine Francois Chidaine
Between the Loire River and the tuffeau hillsides lies Montlouis-sur-Loire, home to Domaine François Chidaine. Founded in 1989, the estate now spans 50 hectares, including 25 ha in Montlouis and 10 ha in Vouvray dedicated primarily to Chenin Blanc. Certified organic since 1992 (Ecocert) and biodynamic since 1999 (Biodyvin), the vineyards are divided into over 50 parcels rooted in clay-flint and clay-limestone soils, expressing remarkable nuance and precision.
An additional 15 hectares in Touraine highlight Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Grolleau, Cabernet Franc, Côt, and Pineau d’Aunis. Chidaine’s philosophy centers on parcel-by-parcel vinification, respect for nature, and pure terroir expression. The domaine also extends across the Loire into Vouvray and, since 2010, to a small project in Murcia, Spain.
